Module Connecting Detail

Got to love that detail!!!

Mod 5 Construction

After todays lecture I thought I'd play around with a movie making program and I came up with this short simulation of how the central module of our portable would be prefabricated.

Visualisation

Here are some renders of the central module of the classroom. The water tanks are 2400x1800x365 and were sourced from www.waterwall.com.au

Group Concept

Discussing the design as a group, we came up with the concept that we could use five modules to construct a new mod five classroom, which would have a 'butterfly' type roof, which would drain water into two central water storage walls. This water can then be used as a means of heating through out the classroom, by means of a hydronic system. The roof will also be lifted off the ceiling, so that in summer there is less heat gain through the roof, and ventialtion will be porvided in the air space, which is created, to remove the hot air which may accumulate there.

Initial Ideas

Here was an intial idea i thought of in relation to the 'adapability' aspect of RARE architecture. I was thinking that perhaps, as the current mod 5 doesn't really take orientation into consideration, as it can be positioned in a variety of ways, maybe if the shading of the windows was adaptable, it could compensate for this.

Here are a couple of different ideas about portable architecture/portable living

RAre architecture

When talking about designing architecture which is relocatable and adaptable, this video demonstrates some lateral thinking!
